Honduras
Honduras, almost exactly the same size as the UK, is a bit smaller than its neighbor, Guatemala. It is the poorest country in Central America and is not a major magnet for tourists, which is good, in that the people are not jaded about tourists, and bad because tourist facilities are not highly developed. Though not a major birding destination, the country has some fine and varied habitat, including lowland rainforest along the Caribbean, lowland pine savannas in the northeast, a central mountain core that includes both cloud forest and mountain rain forest, some areas of arid thorn forest in the south, and remnant areas of highland pine and pine-oak.
