Mauritius
Mauritius, officially the Republic of Mauritius, is a mountainous sub-tropical island nation off the coast of the African continent in the southwest Indian Ocean, about 900 kilometres (560 mi) east of Madagascar. In addition to the island of Mauritius, the republic also includes the island of Rodrigues, 560km (350 mi) east of the principal island, and several much smaller islands, St. Brandon, about 402 kilometres (250 mi) to the north and the Agalega Islands, which are two small islands about 933 kilometres (580 mi) also to the north of Mauritius. English is the official language but French predominates in the media, both broadcast and printed as well as with business and in corporate affairs. The capital, and largest city, is Port Louis.
